Support Our Troops! Oldham County Facts Oldham County, the 74th Kentucky county formed in December 1823, was named for Colonel William Oldham, a Revolutionary War officer from Jefferson County. Oldham County, largely rural, is located in north central Kentucky, part of the outer bluegrass region, along the Ohio River. Oldham county has a land area of 189 square miles, with cities - La Grange, Crestwood, Goshen, Pewee Valley, Ballardsville, Buckner, River Bluff, Park Lake, and Orchard Grass Hills.
