“The Rescue Truck”
In 1952, Harry Truman was US President, but locally, Vince Fanelli was President of South Oldham Lions Club. When a five year old boy drowned in Lake Louisvilla, a frightening fact emerged….. there was no emergency equipment in Oldham County. At the next Board Meeting, Lion Milton C. Stoess, recommended that the SOLC purchase an emergency “Rescue Truck” for the community. Lots of hard work and a community wide campaign, raised funds so that the Club purchased the demonstrator truck below from the Gertstenslager Company (Wooster, OH) for $6,500.
In less than a year, the Truck went from “idea to reality”, and had made two runs, and possibly saved two lives.
