Eyeglass Collection

South Oldham Lions Club members Gary Keibler, Dale Ballard and Tom Price have placed eyeglass collection boxes at the locations listed below  Our community residents are continuing to support our effort to re-cycle their old eyewear by placing them in these boxes.

These glasses go to the Lions Recycling Centers were volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses.  Most of the recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact. These used eyeglasses could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, a senior maintain their independence, and provide a community in need with more opportunities to grow and thrive.

Eyeglasses Collected…

After our meeting on 11/23/10, Lions Keibler and Price display several hundred used eyeglasses that will be sent to a Lions Eyeglass Recycle Center, where volunteers clean, and sort by prescription.  A picture of Lions Keibler and Price with the glasses was taken, and was sent to the Oldham Era to promote our Club's Eyeglass Collection Program.

More glasses collected by Lion Dale Ballard.

Past President Lion Don Hall and President Lion Major Wheat look over the table display of the eyeglasses collected by Lion Rick Wardlow.  On 8/11/09 Lion Rick Wardlow hit the home run the members were anticipating.  He brought in boxes containing over 1200 pair of glasses.  After the meeting

Lion Gordon Hettinger took this picture of the glasses to be submitted to the Oldham Era.

If you have eyeglasses to donate or know of other possible locations where we might put a collection box please give Gary, Dale or Tom a call.
